Yom Hashoah is the day commemorating the victims of the Holocaust. Yom Hashoah, which means Day of Remembrance, is a day that has been set aside for remembering the victims of the Holocaust and a day to remind us of what can happen to mankind when hatred and racism are left unchecked.
In 1980, the United States Holocaust Memorial Council was mandated by an act of Congress to lead the nation in civic commemorations and to encourage appropriate observances of remembrance of the Holocaust throughout the United States.
