Ingrid Kisliuk documents how the memories of Jews who were hiding from the Nazis as children surfaced years later, when they were raising their own children. This enlightening book chronicles how the intense experience of the Hidden Children inescapably shaped their attitudes toward their own children.  Ingrid examines an area of the Holocaust pathology, the effects on a generation whose childhood was stolen. With that as a background, she asks the logical question: how did this loss of innocence affect parenting?  She allows these children of surviving children to speak for themselves.  For the first time, we hear from a generation who, though removed in time from the traumatic events, are intimate with their effects on their parents and themselves.
