In celebration of the Center's 25th Anniversary and the acquisition of our new facility, the Center premiered a commissioned Romero Britto work of art to symbolize Memory and Hope. The event, which was held on Monday, October 10th at Britto Central, garnered new friends and new opportunities to share the Center's quarter of a century local and global impact.
The poem "The Butterfly," which was written by Pavel Friedmann who was born on January 7, 1921 in Prague, was deported to the Terezin concentration camp on April 26, 1942 and died in Auschwitz on September 29, 1944, haunts our conscience and our soul. "The Butterfly" has become a hallmark of Memory and Hope so that "Never Again" will a child anywhere, anytime, any place write "I never saw another butterfly."
As we know, Romero Britto is one of today's most celebrated Pop artists. The
optimism and passion that permeates his work is why we commissioned him to create the Butterfly of Memory and Hope. His design and choice of color captures, defines, and crystallizes the meaning and legacy of Pavel's poem "The Butterfly."
Our Co-Chairs, Cheryl Davis, Estee Mandel, Karen Matluck and Rachel Sapoznik invite each of you to join them by also becoming a member of the Butterfly of Memory and Hope Society by either purchasing a pin or a set of cufflinks for $5,000. Each year, you will have the opportunity to rededicate your commitment to the Legacy of the Holocaust by adding a diamond to this exquisite Butterfly. Please refer to the attached order form for more information. If we can be of further assistance, please contact Rositta Kenigsberg at (305) 919-5690.
We look forward to welcoming you as member of the Butterfly of Memory and Hope Society. Please join us as we "Remember Never to Forget" by showing your much needed support for the important work of the Center.
